"Foot of Cross" by Greer |
“Pen write”
“Listen please. I love you. Hearken to My still small voice, Gary. Believe that I am in you and for you and with you, every second of the day, My children. I will give you the comfort and the strength that you need, each day, as you take up your crosses, each day, and follow Me.

I hesitated to write the very last word of this Letter from the Lord, when I heard it in my spirit. The word was "soul". I was familiar with the Lord speaking in other letters about sacrificing His mortal "life" for us, but He had never used the term "mortal soul" before.
ReplyDeleteGod's soul is immortal; therefore, I was confused, until I realized that it was no contradiction for Him to say that He had given us His mortal soul, because by sacrificing His fleshly, mortal life for us, He really had given up all that His mind, emotions, reasoning and will could ever choose to do in the mortal (liable to death) part of His being. Many Christians, including myself, teach that "soul" has much to do with the mind, intellect, emotions and will.
The Strongs concordance definitions for the word "soul" give further reason to meditate on many things Jesus gave up for us so that we, like Him, could be immortal, too, through faith in what He did for us.
Strongs Concordance definition of soul, accessed through the www.blueletterbible.org site, which I highly recommend, follows:
H5315 soul: nephesh
1) soul, self, life, creature, person, appetite, mind, living being, desire, emotion, passion
a) that which breathes, the breathing substance or being, soul, the inner being of man
b) living being
c) living being (with life in the blood)
d) the man himself, self, person or individual
e) seat of the appetites
f) seat of emotions and passions
g) activity of mind
Put all of the above together with God's desire for us to love Him with all our hearts, souls, minds and strengths and we begin to get a glimpse of the intimate relationship that God wants us to have with Him.
